Good messages!

- Yep, it's easier to get ripped after 40 if a woman had good habits before 40

- Yep, there's no generic diet or exercise program that is "best."

One thing that I would add though is that after 40, a small amount of fat gain (4-10 lbs.) is actually desirable and healthy (they might not like the way it looks, but it is healthy) - on condition that she wasn't overweight to begin with.

The reason is that before menopause, the 3 organs that make estrogen are the ovaries, adrenal glands and adipose tissue (body fat).

After menopause, the ovaries don't do it anymore, so the job falls on the adrenal glands and fat cells.

So women who do gain a bit of body fat in the years leading up to menopause actually have an easier menopause (because of higher estrogen levels):

- Fewer hot flashes

- Better skin quality

- Better mood

- Better sleep

- Less brain fog

...and more.

So yes, women CAN get ripped at any age, but an even bigger question is SHOULD they get ripped after 40? If they can maintain good health, sure, if they want to. If their body fat drops too low to maintain good health, then getting ripped might be at odds with good health.

But overall, excellent message - fitness is a lifelong endeavor - not a 12-week program.
